Symbio City
Symbio City is a proposed port city at Pulau Carey, Malaysia, masterplanned by Urban Scale around the radial geometry of the parepat flower. Kunkun Visual translated the schematic sketches into a full 3D city model and animation for a government-level presentation, rebuilding the environment at every revision.

About the project
Symbio City had to convince a government, which is a different audience from a buyer.
The masterplan organises a Malaysian port city around the radial geometry of the parepat flower: port, logistics, housing and a central business district arranged as petals off a single spine. Tradition used as structural logic rather than as decoration.
Our job was to make a set of planning diagrams legible to people who decide things but do not read plans.
Story
Symbio City is a future port city designed by Urban Scale, using the parepat flower’s radial structure as its planning framework.
The city divides into functional petals: a high-capacity port, logistics corridors, residential districts, a central business hub. A mobility spine connects them, so industry, housing and the CBD are one journey rather than three.
The layout is built for clarity, land-use efficiency, and the ability to grow later without being redrawn.
Process and solutions
It started with sketches. Preliminary massing from Urban Scale, the urban design team behind the plan, and a brief that amounted to: make this understandable in one sitting.
Which meant rebuilding, repeatedly. Every revision of the schematic design changed the 3D environment, and each time we rebuilt and re-contextualised it so the visuals stayed true to the current plan rather than to an earlier version of it.
The parepat flower came out of those discussions rather than arriving with the brief. Once the framework was agreed we built the full city model and the key architecture around it.
From a set of sketches to a complete animation: planning intent on one side, a presentation a decision-maker can follow on the other.
