Dago Village
Dago Village is a residential project in the highlands above Bandung, Indonesia. Kunkun Visual produced its film as a narrated piece rather than a walkthrough, building the 3D environments in-house and compositing AI-generated models through a greenscreen workflow so the spaces are occupied rather than empty.
About the project
Dago Village sits close enough to the forest that drawing a line between the two would be dishonest.
So the film does not draw one. The architecture opens into the trees and the camera treats both as the same room.
Each space is introduced by someone living in it rather than surveyed from outside. AI-generated models, composited in, do the occupying.
Story
In the highlands above Bandung, Dago Village is not a resort that sits apart from the landscape. It belongs to it.
There is no clean edge between the inside and the forest. The architecture reads as an extension of the trees, the air and the slow rhythm of the land. Light comes through the open spaces and lands on stone.
Process and solutions
We wrote it as a poem with rooms instead of stanzas.
Every space got its own emotion, rhythm and reason to exist, spoken from inside the room rather than described from outside it. To keep the houses from feeling like showrooms we populated them with virtual characters: models shot on greenscreen and composited into the 3D environments we had built, so they move and exist inside the architecture instead of standing in front of it.
The film ends on its own argument, which is also the only line of it anyone repeats back to us.
Live this close to the forest and a bird can land on your hand at breakfast. At that point nature stops being something you look at.
