BLVD
BLVD City is an integrated masterplan development in Dubai. Kunkun Visual produced its masterplan film with HAY Agency, who directed the narrative and the child’s voiceover while the studio built the 3D environments. The result is a cinematic walkthrough of a district that puts housing, education and entertainment together.
About the project
BLVD City is Dubai’s answer to a question a lot of cities are still asking: what if the places you live, learn, work and go out were not four separate journeys?
The development puts housing, schools, offices and entertainment inside one district, close enough that the distinction stops mattering. Somebody could grow up there and never think of them as different places.
Our job was to make that legible in three minutes, to people who had never stood there.
Story
The film is told by a child growing up inside BLVD City. The narrative came from HAY Agency, and it is the reason the film works.
A child does not describe a masterplan. A child describes what seems possible from where they are standing. Following one means the ambition of the place arrives as a feeling rather than as a list of amenities.
That is the whole argument: build an environment for the future and the people raised in it will assume the future is normal.
Process and solutions
This was a real collaboration, not a render job handed over at the end. We worked through the narrative arc and every individual scene with HAY Agency, iterating until the story held.
The environments ran on a full 3D pipeline, blended with curated stock footage wherever a real texture bought more than a built one. HAY directed the soul of it: the child’s voice and the story itself.
For a 3D studio, that split is the interesting part. It meant working as a partner inside the storytelling rather than as a supplier at the end of it, which is a harder brief and a better one.
